Take part in the trade comparison
In Analytics, under Figure and source, the owner chooses Join the comparison. You then see for ratios such as food cost, labour cost and voids whether you sit in the lowest quarter, below or above the middle or in the highest quarter of similar businesses. Your ratios feed anonymously into the others' comparison.
The comparison only works both ways: your ratios feed anonymously into the others' comparison, theirs into yours.
Joining
- 1. Open Analytics and go to the Figure and source table.
- 2. Choose Join the comparison.
The owner decides this. Leave the comparison gets you out at any time; it takes effect immediately, in both directions.
What is compared
- Food cost ratio, Labour cost ratio, Void rate, Discount rate and Average ticket.
- Never your revenue, never items, never suppliers, never people.
- You are compared with businesses of your industry and size: smaller, mid-sized or larger businesses. Test businesses do not count.
How to read it
Next to each ratio there is a band with the group's middle and your position: in the lowest quarter, below the middle, above the middle or in the highest quarter. Bands, not a league table. You never see who is above or below you, and nobody sees you.
If nothing appears yet
- Not enough days with revenue: your business does not have enough till data in the period yet.
- Not enough businesses in your group: a value only appears once there are enough other businesses in your group. Below that, the Hub shows nothing at all, not even a provisional figure.
- “too few businesses with this figure”: values are missing for this one ratio, for example because others do not use Stock.
The food cost ratio needs booked consumption and waste in Stock, the labour cost ratio needs the Rota.
