Account and sign-in
New phone: move your two-factor sign-in
Turn off the second factor under Settings › Security with a code from the old app or a recovery code, and set it up again with the new phone straight away. You get eight new recovery codes in the process.
While the second factor is on, it can't simply be set up again. You turn it off first and then on again with the new phone. Do both right after each other.
Turn it off
- 1. Open Settings › Security. As staff you find this under My account.
- 2. Under Two-factor authentication, choose Disable.
- 3. Enter a code from the app on your old phone. If the old phone is already gone, choose Use a recovery code and enter one of your recovery codes.
- 4. Confirm with Disable.
All other sessions of your account end in the process. You stay signed in on this device.
Set it up with the new phone
- 1. Choose Set up.
- 2. Scan the QR code with the authenticator app on your new phone, for example Google Authenticator or 1Password. If that doesn't work, type in the key.
- 3. Enter the 6-digit Confirmation code from the app and choose Turn on two-factor.
- 4. Save the eight new recovery codes. The old ones no longer work.
If you have neither the old phone nor a recovery code, support resets the second factor after checking that it is you.
