Book consumption or spoilage

Open the article in Stock, choose Consumption or Spoilage, enter the quantity and choose Book. Spoilage is kept separate so that what gets thrown away stays visible.

  1. 1. Open Stock and tap the article.
  2. 2. Choose Consumption if goods were used or taken out, or Spoilage if they had to be thrown away.
  3. 3. Enter the Quantity and, if useful, a Note.
  4. 4. Choose Book.

The stock goes down straight away. It may also go below zero; the Hub then lists the article as a gap.

Why the difference matters

  • Spoilage appears in the theoretical vs actual food cost as its own item, “Waste and breakage”. If you book spoilage as consumption, you never see what you throw away.
  • Consumption is what the calculated reorder proposal works from. Spoilage does not count there, otherwise the shrinkage would be reordered.

And Shrinkage & voids?

In Shrinkage & voids you can additionally record breakage, spoilage, theft or staff meals by hand. That is a separate list with a value in euros and books nothing in Stock. If the stock level should be right, book it here in Stock.

The owner and the shift lead can book consumption and spoilage.
